He grew up in a home of conscience, black identity and the search for liberation where his own perspective as a pan-Africanist was nurtured by great fans of our country ”.
The minister said the award-winning icon was a pioneer and contributed greatly to the South African jazz and opera industry.
“As a nation, we thank Dr. Sibongile Khumalo for being the jewel in the crown of this land’s heritage. We thank you for bringing our talents as a people to the world stage. We thank you for your golden heart and magical voice. “

Previously, her brother Lindumuzi Mngoma said that the singer had not felt well for some time before her passing last week.
“The last days of his life were hard for the family because he couldn’t even communicate. We hope that the friends and family who felt aggrieved by not being able to see her in her last days understand us and forgive us for not making her condition public ”.
The award-winning icon known affectionately as MaMngoma passed away last week at the age of 63.
Joburg Mayor Geoff Makhubo said Khumalo will be remembered for his mastery of music.
“I would like the audience to see in their imagination what his life was about, in all its complexities, its strengths. He had resilience, he had dedication, commitment, and leadership. God planted seeds of greatness in his life.
