Video-on-demand service Showmax has launched Showmax Free, an ad-supported streaming service that offers a selection of local and international featured series, movies and sports for free.
The service is offered through the Showmax site or mobile app, and does not require registration or providing any details.
It does not give viewers access to the full Showmax library, but it does allow users to stream select shows, with advertisements, and has limited functionality.
Unlike Showmax’s 14-day free trial, which offers full functionality during the trial period before incurring subscription costs, the free service can be used indefinitely, Showmax said.
“The downloads are not available, but you can view them online at any time and on any screen. No registration or billing information is required, ”he said.
In terms of content, Showmax said the free catalog contains a carefully curated collection of shows, including “early seasons of much-loved favorites,” as well as select local and international series and films.
Showmax said it will also offer sports highlights and “occasional live matches.”
To activate free streaming on mobile:
- Download and install the latest version of the Showmax application;
- Open the Showmax app and tap on the “more” menu icon;
- Turn on free mode;
- You will be automatically redirected to the home screen, where you can start watching free programs.
On laptop or PC:
- Go to the free catalog and start looking;
