Shivambu criticizes Zondo Commission for not inviting EFF, says investigation is ‘faction nonsense’ – the Citizen

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Vice President Floyd Shivambu criticized the selection of witnesses to appear before the State Capture Investigation Commission, accusing the commission of electing former and current parliamentarians who will “justify and validate” their ” previous conclusions “on the accusations of capture and corruption of the State.

On Twitter Wednesday night, Shivambu complained that the EFF had fought for the commission’s establishment, but the party had never been asked to testify before its chairman, Supreme Court Vice President Raymond Zondo.

Shivambu described the commission as “factional nonsense”, alluding to factional divisions within the ruling ANC that have been highlighted by various witnesses who have appeared before the investigation. He said the commission would not call the EFF to the stand because they are not “faction puppets.”

He tweeted: “This factional nonsense of a commission only elects members and former members of parliament who will justify and validate its previous conclusions. The EFF fought for the commission to be established, and yet they will never speak to us because we are not faction puppets. Yes it is! “

The EFF leader was responding to a commission tweet about the appearance of former ANC MP Makhosi Khoza, who is scheduled to give testimony on Thursday about parliamentary oversight during former President Jacob Zuma’s tenure.

But this is not the first time that Shivambu has criticized the state capture commission.

On Monday, he said the investigation was “hijacked” by factional interests to protect white capitalists, and asked why the testimony of former Eskom chief executive Brian Molefe on the corruption allegations against Glencore and President Cyril Ramaphosa he was “interrupted and repressed.”

Molefe had told the commission in January that Glencore sold shares to Ramaphosa to use its political influence to its advantage and to the disadvantage of the power company.

Shivambu reacted to Zuma’s statement on Monday that he would defy a Constitutional Court order to appear before the state’s arrest investigation.

He urged the commission and its president to show objectivity and fairness to the former president.

“Zuma must appear before the Commission and Zondo must begin to show objectivity and justice because that thing is kidnapped by the interests of Cabal factions to protect the white capitalists, the puppet. Why is Molefe’s evidence for the Glencore / Ramaphosa nexus interrupted and suppressed? [SIC]”Shivambu tweeted.
