Cape Town residents reportedly experienced tremors on Saturday night after a mild earthquake was felt in certain parts of the city, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The US Geological Survey issued an advisory Saturday night, warning to exercise caution in the coming hours “after a 6.2 magnitude earthquake offshore struck at approximately 7:10 p.m. (local time) on 26 of September”.
A few hours after the advisory, several residents reported experiencing tremors.
Ward Councilor Angus McKenzie also stated that he experienced an earthquake in his home, which lasted for about 10 seconds.
News24 contacted the City of Cape Town Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for confirmation.
The comment will be added once it is received.
