Presenter Lehlohonolo Thobela said Gauteng residents should prepare for humid weather conditions for most of the week.
JOHANNESBURG – The South African Meteorological Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Gauteng on Tuesday.
Forecasters said localized flooding was expected in parts of the province, as well as in KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and the northwest.
Last week, the roof of ‘the global gas station’ in Vereeniging collapsed on several cars during heavy rains.
Commentator Lehlohonolo Thobela said Gauteng residents should prepare for humid weather conditions for most of the week.
“(We have issued) a level 2 yellow warning, which will result in severe thunderstorms and possible hail that could cause damage to vehicles, damaging wind, and heavy downpours that can result in localized flooding; with damage to infrastructure and settlements, both formal and informal. We also expect localized injuries due to flying debris. ”
