Former Deputy Commissioner of the National Police Bonang Mgwenya says she has not been informed of her dismissal, according to a TimesLive report.

The lead police briefly appeared in Palm Ridge Magistrates Court Monday after she was arrested by the NPA Directorate of Investigation.
She faces corruption, fraud and money laundering charges for her alleged role in ensuring that the contract to supply emergency alert equipment for SAPS in 2017 went to Instrumentation for Traffic Law Enforcement (Pty) Ltd, while enjoying a close relationship not disclosed with the business owner. , according to the Investigative Directorate.

The national commissioner initially suspended Mgwenya on October 15. Following a departmental investigation, Mgwenya was charged, convicted and fired on Thursday, police spokesman Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo said.

She maintained her innocence in her founding affidavit in Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Monday. He said he believed they would acquit her.
