A truck carrying cars crashed onto the N1 near the Allandale exit ramp in Johannesburg on Wednesday, leaving wreckage and burning vehicles.
Johannesburg Metropolitan Police spokesman Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said they do not yet have details of possible injuries, but they understand the truck veered over a central barrier into oncoming traffic.
The cause of the accident was also unknown, and authorities were still gathering information on the direction the truck was traveling before the terrible accident.
Meanwhile, three lanes on each side of the N1 near the Allandale and New Road exit ramps have been closed so emergency services have room to work. Motorists have been advised to seek an alternate route.
