Snow fell on Table Mountain in Cape Town on Saturday as residents bundled up as a cold front settled over the city and its surroundings.
“It was amazing,” Lorenzo Galant said of the gusts on Saturday.
It was too cold and windy for anyone to come up to play on it, but the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company spokesperson said there was a lot of excitement about it, adding that there was sleet sometimes, but heavier snow was quite rare.
Images captured by live broadcasts from the top of the mountain show an umbrella blown by the wind and snow falling on the viewing deck usually packed with visitors and the occasional dassie.
Sutherland also received a nice snowfall, according to images shared by Chantel Fourie.
