Several Durban musicians and artists who gave a mini concert on the N3 road on Wednesday were arrested.
They were protesting against lockdown regulations that affected their livelihoods.
A road-blocking stage completely paralyzed eastbound and westbound highways for two hours, said eThekwini Metro spokesman, Chief Superintendent Parboo Sewpersad.
“Traffic was stuck for miles on a national highway. You can visualize what it would look like,” he said.
Armed with banners, the protesters called for the events to be allowed to re-organize with up to 70% capacity and for President Cyril Ramaphosa to take their plight seriously.
According to Sewpersad, 35 people were arrested and six vehicles seized, including two trucks.
