A police officer from Wolmaransstad in the northwest is expected to appear in court on Monday after he crashed a police vehicle into a fence, allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
In a video of the incident, taken by a community member in Tswelelang on Saturday, the bailiff appears confused as he tries to figure out what to do after backing up towards the fence. Then a man takes him out of the police vehicle, but he falls to the ground. His speech sounds slurred.
Police spokesman Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said the police leadership was shocked by his “unprofessional and improper conduct”.

Mokgwabone said preliminary investigations also revealed that the sheriff was not authorized to drive a state vehicle. You face an additional charge for using a vehicle without the owner’s consent. A departmental investigation will also begin.
The officer is expected to appear before the Wolmaransstad Magistrates Court after being released on bail of 500 rand.
