If the rumors are to be believed, Microsoft is likely to introduce the new Surface Pro hybrid tablet in October 2020. We can expect to see the 8th Gen 2-in-1 touchscreen laptop.

In the absence of official product images, 3D designer Jermaine Smit, aka Concept Creator, made a concept video of the long-awaited Microsoft Surface Pro 8 Windows tablet in collaboration with LetsGoDigital.

The Surface Pro line is a much more powerful series than the Surface Go and will reportedly be cheaper than the Surface Book but more portable than the Surface Laptop range.

Microsoft announced the Surface Pro 7 in October 2019, and while a new model is expected in less than 40 days, we still know surprisingly little about the specs and design of the upcoming Surface Pro 8.

Let’s go digital It is speculated that it will be powered by an Intel chip, although “it cannot be completely ruled out.” An AMD-powered laptop could also be launched, as was the case with the Surface Pro X and Surface Laptop 3.

The current Surface Pro 7 has a magnesium case with a 12.3-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 2736 x 1824 pixels. The ultra-thin and lightweight Windows 10 tablet weighs less than 800 grams and is only 8.5mm thick.

Additionally, the 2-in-1 professional device is powered by a powerful Intel Core processor, giving customers the choice between a Core i3, i5 or i7. Memory wise, you might be looking for SSDs from 128GB to 1TB.

Surface Pro 8 price and availability

Surface Pro 6 and 7 were introduced in October, followed by a release date the following month. If Microsoft sticks to that pattern, the Pro 8 should be announced in October 2020 during Microsoft’s virtual event.

Pricing has yet to be confirmed at this stage. That said, Let’s Go Digital, which is based in the Netherlands, assumes that it will cost “at least € 900”. At press time, that’s around R18 100.

“This was also the price of the Core i3 model at the time of its introduction [in 2019]. The Surface Pro 7 with Core i5 went on sale for € 1,050 (R21 100) and the Core i7 variant (16GB RAM / 256GB ROM) was set at € 1,650 (R33 200) ”.
