A bakkie Ford Ranger was seriously damaged after a tractor tire blew out while filling with air at a gas station in Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal on Monday.

A member of the South African Reaction Unit (RUSA) was on patrol in the area when he heard the explosion.

In the investigation, it was established that the driver of the Ford Ranger was in the process of filling a tractor tire that was loaded in the rear of his bakkie with air when the explosion occurred.

The vehicle windows were smashed and the container was badly damaged. No injuries were reported.
