Two men escaped serious injuries when the roof of a gas station collapsed on three vehicles in Sharpeville on Friday.

ER24 reported that the wounded men were at the gas station when the roof collapsed.

ER24 spokesman Russell Meiring said that at approximately 1:50 p.m., paramedics arrived and found that the roof of a gas station had collapsed onto a small bus, a taxi and a light motor vehicle.

Drivers and passengers had taken refuge in the nearby store.

No seriously injured, dead

Doctors evaluated the patients and found that two men, believed to be in their 20s and 30s, had only suffered minor injuries.

Fortunately, there were no serious injuries or deaths.

“The patients were treated and transported to Kopanong Provincial Hospital for further care. Heavy rains and hail are believed to have contributed to the cause of the collapse,” Meiring said.

Local authorities are in place for further investigation.

This is a story in development.
