JOHANNESBURG – Search operations for four people believed to have drowned in the Vaal River continue Sunday.
This comes after a boat carrying seven people sank in the river near Spider Valley on Saturday.
One body was recovered from the river bank while four others remain missing.
The police water wing has embarked on an extensive search and rescue operation following an alleged drowning incident.

Police said two people, a woman and a man, survived the ordeal while four bodies remained missing in the river.
The two survivors of the incident, who suffered minor injuries, told police that the boat had entered the water.
Police Mathapelo Peters explains: “Seven people, ranging in age from 30 to 45, were traveling in a boat on the Vaal River, Vereenig from Three Rivers when their boat capsized. Two people survived and a second man was pronounced dead at the scene. The search for the four missing victims is still ongoing. “
Peters said an investigation file was opened to further investigate the circumstances surrounding the drownings.
