JOHANNESBURG – The South African National Defense Force (SANDF) is assisting the police in their investigations.

This follows a shooting in the Eastern Cape that left seven people dead. Another six have been rushed to hospital.

The taxi dispute is presumed to be the reason for the incident that occurred on Friday.

It is believed that a group of men from the village of Mpheni allegedly attacked another group from the village of Nokhatshile.

According to police spokesman Vish Naidoo, they are looking for “multiple” suspects, no less than 10. Additional reinforcement is being sent to the area to ensure it is stabilized; SANDF will also assist the police in the search for the suspects and will investigate the case.

Naidoo says the six people who were injured in the shooting are also being treated as suspects.

“We would like to talk to them, to shed light on what exactly happened or who might be responsible,” he says.
