CAPE TOWN – The South African National Defense Force (SANDF) has joined the police in their search for suspects accused of killing seven men at Mount Ayliff in the Eastern Cape.

Early on Friday morning, a group of Mpeni men clashed with a group from Nokhatshile village and resulted in the death of all seven. Six other men were hospitalized.
The others involved are believed to be in hiding. It is believed to have been sparked by a dispute over local taxi routes.
“After the murder of the seven men at Mount Ayliff this morning [Friday], the South African National Defense Force has joined forces with the South African Police Service (SAPS) to hunt down suspects who are possibly hiding in a vast, unforgiving and undulating area around Mount Ayliff, ”said the police spokesman. , Brigadier Vish Naidoo.
Naidoo said SANDF was helping authorities in various ways.
“SANDF is assisting with equipment, including helicopters, and providing reinforcements as a force multiplier for our already deployed reinforcements,” he said.
The Eastern Cape government called on the public to submit information related to the deadly attack on Mount Ayliff.
“Our information is that seven men died and six men were injured and were taken to hospital. The Eastern Cape government is calling on the people of the two villages and anyone who may have information about this fight to report it to the police to help with the investigation, ”said Mvusiwekhaya Sicwetsha, spokesman for the provincial government.
