Sadio Mané’s trade would benefit Liverpool, and it’s one that Jürgen Klopp must make

It has become the norm in modern football that experts, fans and analysts expect players to be at their best every time they step onto the field. And when it comes to a club as successful as Liverpool, that pressure is magnified.

While we may all want to see every member of Jürgen Klopp’s team play their best in every match and never get tired, that is simply not possible. And in the case of Sadio Mané, there is strong evidence that he needs a break.

Since signing for Liverpool just over four years ago, Mané has been the symbol of what Klopp has brought to Anfield. A change in the club’s culture, from the pinnacle of success to finally claiming the biggest trophies in the sport.

Despite all the goals and impressive performances he has put in for Liverpool in recent seasons, the last few weeks there is no denying that his levels have dropped a bit. This is not his fault, it must be said, but simply as a result of playing so much soccer.

He played the full 90 minutes twice while on international service for Senegal, and has only missed the distance in four Liverpool games this season, with one of them being a last-minute substitute. And that amount of minutes begins to be reflected in their performances.

Mané’s last goal for Liverpool came on the road trip to Atalanta, just three games ago, so it’s not much of a concern. But his last goal in the league was the first goal of the Merseyside derby last month, meaning he hasn’t scored in his last four outings in the top flight.

Again, this isn’t a significant drop in form, but there are definitely warning signs that Mané would benefit from being taken off the side for some game to rest and rebound. If you look at his numbers in the last three games, they are also down compared to what we’re used to seeing at No. 10 for the Reds.

Fewer actions that have resulted in a shot on goal and his passing completion average has dropped to 62 percent, compared to 80 percent for the rest of the season. While these numbers are not a major concern, they are another early sign that Mané may be tired and not playing his best.

Klopp has been forced to rotate his team many times this season and during the busy Christmas period that will continue. And yet, despite this attitude, Mané remains a regular figure in the team. You can understand why, he epitomizes everything Klopp wants from his Liverpool team and often takes over a game that has made him one of the best players in the world.

Mané is a world-class talent, that hasn’t changed, but even the best in the world need to rest from time to time. It seems that the times have come, and now that Liverpool have a more than capable substitute in Diogo Jota, the drop in quality when Mané is left out is no longer as pronounced as before this summer.

Liverpool’s overall quality may well diminish when Mané comes off the wing, as any team would, but it would be beneficial in the long run to give him a break and let him regain his speed to help the club through the busy party. calendar.

What I read on Liverpool.com

Dan and I have put together a piece to see if we would offer a selection of Liverpool players a new contract in the summer. There are some surprise answers, to say the least!

There’s also a good piece here looking at the tactical threats Brighton poses and how Liverpool could counter them on Saturday. It’s worth reading, for sure.

What i am seeing

Liverpool has released a video with Mané, while surprising a volunteer who is a huge red with an unforgettable day. An absolutely fantastic video, definitely worth watching.
