SA registers 772 more cases of Covid-19 and 54 deaths

  • South Africa registered 772 new cases of Covid-19 on Monday.
  • Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said 54 deaths related to Covid-19 were reported, of which four occurred in the past 24 to 48 hours.
  • The number of people who have died from Covid-19 in South Africa is now 19,465 and the recovery rate is 90%.

South Africa recorded 54 more Covid-19-related deaths and 772 new cases, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said Monday night.

“From today [Monday], the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases detected is 727,595 with 772 new cases identified since the last report. Unfortunately, today we are reporting 54 Covid-19 related deaths. “

Mkhize said 24 were from the Eastern Cape, 13 from the Free State, one from KwaZulu-Natal, two from Limpopo, one from Mpumalanga, nine from the North Cape and four from the Western Cape.

Of the 54 deaths reported as of Monday, four were reported to have occurred in the past 24 to 48 hours: one in KwaZulu-Natal and three in the Western Cape.

“This brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths to 19,465,” Mkhize said.

Recoveries stand at 657,500.
