Ramaphosa also announced that Covid-19’s death toll was now 219, as the number of confirmed cases exceeded 12,000. More than 9 million people have been examined and 370,000 evaluated. Ramaphosa, however, praised the country’s recovery rate with almost 5,000 recorded recoveries.
The president said that in the future there will be an urgent need to “reorganize workplaces, schools, universities, colleges and other public places to limit transmission.”
“The transition to the next phase of the coronavirus response will be, in many ways, more difficult than the current one,” he said.
