Robin jackman, one of the most recognized voices in South African cricket history, died at the age of 75.
The news was confirmed for Sport24 Friday by a friend of the family.
Born in India in 1945, Jackman would play four test matches and 13 ODIs for the England team, while also taking part in the western province.
However, it was in the comment box that ‘Jackers’, as he was affectionately known, won the hearts of South African cricket fans after his playing days.
Jackman had been diagnosed with cancer in 2012 and it is understood that he died at his Cape Town home around 3:30 PM on Christmas Day.
Tributes from the entire South African sports community hit social media on Friday night.
Devastated upon learning of Robin Jackman’s death this afternoon. One of the kindest and most genuine people I have ever had the privilege of meeting.
