Rolex has just unveiled its latest watch collection, including a revamp of its iconic Oyster Perpetual Submariner series. The Submariner was last updated in 2012, according to Forbes.
The latest Rolex Submariner retails for $ 8,100 (R135,000) in the US, while the Rolex Submariner Date costs $ 9,550 (R160,000). Each version has been redesigned with a 41mm case (slightly larger than the standard 40mm it has been for decades) and is equipped with a new caliber (the 3230 for the Submariner and the 3235 for the Submariner Date).
Rolex also launched its new Datejust collection, which comes in a variety of different colors, and a new Sky-Dweller with a rubber strap generally reserved for Rolex sports watches, which retails for $ 40,000 (R670,000).
As Business Insider previously reported, watches are often considered a stable asset class, along with other “passion investments” such as artwork and jewelry. Wealthy people are increasingly putting their money in real assets like these.
