Cape Town – Motorists were warned to be cautious when traveling through Kraaifontein on Friday, with hundreds of EFF members marching for poor service delivery and gender-based violence, among other issues.
There have been unconfirmed reports that EFF members have blocked some roads in the Bloekombos area and of vehicles stoned and hitting tires. The EFF had promised that the march would take place peacefully and is being monitored by a strong police contingent.
While trying to vilify and demoralize the EFF, the fighters are on the ground fighting for the dignity of blacks.

After the EFF caused chaos in its protest in Brackenfell last Friday, ignoring the conditions set by the court, the city of Cape Town failed in its judicial attempt to prevent the march from taking place.
The protest will run from 8 am to 2 pm on Friday. Old Paarl Road has been closed at Eastbound Maroela Road Circle; Old Paarl Road is closed at Westbound Bloekombos Road; and Botfontein Road closed between Maroela and Voortrekker roads.

EFF regional secretary Banzi Dambuza said they intend to hand over a memorandum of demands to local authorities at the Kraaifontein police station, the day hospital and the municipality.
Dambuza said they want the police to fight gender-based violence and the murder of women and also to address the issue of extortion, especially companies.

The EFF also demands that the day hospital improve its poor service and stop discriminating against HIV patients.
The list of demands to the municipality will focus on the poor provision of services and the recent evictions of land in the area.
