When Americans went to the polls on November 3, the leader of the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP), Kenneth Meshoe posted a tweet offering prayers to Donald Trump. “I pray for Pres Trump for his support of the natural family, respect for human life, love for his country, protection of religious rights and opposition to a global plan called the Great Reset. The right to own property is a God-given right that the elite must not usurp, ”he wrote. The ACDP has not issued a formal statement on the outcome of the US elections.
The tweet (supported by Steve Hofmeyr) was met with backlash. Constitutional law scholar Pierre De Vos retweeted the post with an article on how Covid-19 can “damage the brain.” Meshoe tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this year after attending a massive religious gathering in the Free State in March.

The EFF felt that black Americans would remain marginalized despite Biden’s victory over Trump. “These elections are not a turning point in the lives of black Americans, as they will continue to be on the periphery and will not matter.” Black women voters were considered key to Biden’s victory.
