The Vanderbijlpark-born gamer explained why he moved to Tshakhuma despite attracting AmaZulu’s interest as well
Thabo Rakhele, a former fan favorite of the Orlando Pirates, would not pass up the opportunity to join the Kaizer Chiefs.
This despite the seasoned winger recently joining new Premier Soccer League (PSL) club Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila on a free transfer.
Rakhale became a free agent after he decided not to extend his contract with Chippa United and was released by the club in June 2020.
The 30-year-old was heavily tied to the Chiefs, but a move toward the Naturena-based giants never materialized with the club banned from registering new players.

“No no no, honestly speaking that [Kaizer Chiefs interest] it was just a rumor, “said Rakhale SAFM.
“I mean that story has been going on since 2018, so even now I don’t know who started that rumor.
“Even here in Limpopo people ask me if I still go to Kaizer Chiefs and I say ‘No, I’m here now guys, right? Rakhale is here, ‘”he revealed.
“I would consider playing for Kaizer Chiefs if they came for me. The most important thing is to play football, I would play in any team.
“I mean, not a single person would have thought that he would come to play Limpopo.”
Rakhale was considered one of the best wingers in the PSL during his time with the Pirates, helping the team finish second in the Nedbank Cup (twice), MTN8 and the Caf Confederation Cup.
The dribble wizard, who was also on AmaZulu FC’s radar, explained that he joined Tshakhuma because they showed great interest in his services.
“Yes, there were other offers but I think Tshakhuma showed a lot of interest and I have worked with the coach [Joel Masutha at Chippa] before and I played with some of the players before, “he said.
“There are a lot of quality players here, and [other] Players would love to join this team.
“It is a concern that Tshakhuma has had many challenges off the field, but there are always challenges and this is one of them,” he added.
“So I decided to take a chance and see what happened. My agent was in contact with AmaZulu but I don’t know what happened to that. He just told me that AmaZulu decided otherwise.”
Rakhale could make his official debut with Tshakhuma in the Limpopo Derby clash against Baroka FC in a PSL match on Sunday.
