Klein insisted he did not remember Brown forcing the idea of the investigation and suspension of the four executives from the board.
As far as she was concerned, Tsotsi lobbied the board to support the idea and did so successfully.
“The board had deliberated long and hard. The president convinced me [Tsotsi], told us as a board that the presence of the executives could hamper the investigation, “said Klein.
“I fully supported the investigation. The president, Mr. Tsotsi, gave us the reasons why he believed the suspensions should occur.”
When asked what his personal opinion was on the matter and whether he expressed it at the meeting that made the resolutions, Klein said: “When a board has made a decision, then you go out and execute what the board had agreed to. agreed that I support the suspensions. “
The suspension of the four executives resulted in Eskom receiving an investment rating downgrade.
Klein added that, in hindsight, he acknowledged that “some of the decisions we made could have been made better.”
