Queen Sono season 2 canceled amid ‘current tough times’

The series that follows a highly trained South African spy played by local actress Pearl Thusi originally received the go-ahead to return to the streaming platform.

But nevertheless, Channel24 has learned that due to a complex set of production challenges brought about by, among other things, Covid-19, the second season won’t take place after all.

The first season of the energetic and outrageous action series, which has a 91% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes review-aggregation site, was filmed in 37 different locations across the continent, including South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, and Zanzibar.

In a statement to Channel24said director and creator Kagiso Lediga; “We wrote a beautiful story that spread across the continent, but unfortunately it could not be executed in these difficult times.”
