Public Protector demands a fair process

JOHANNESBURG – Public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane says she is under siege from fighting for the poor and vulnerable.

He is facing a parliamentary inquiry into his fitness for office.

Mkhwebane says he wants a fair trial.

At the same time, Mkwebane will face perjury charges in court next year.

“When you fight for the poor and the marginalized, you end up facing these challenges,” Mkhwebane said.

“The process is very clear in the constitution about what must happen because there is a process that must be followed, unless we are a banana republic and we are no longer following the laws,” he said.
