The South African soccer community has paid their respects to former Highlands Park manager, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs. Joe Frickleton, who passed away on Monday.
Frickleton, a Scotsman who played for East Stirlingshire in the Scottish league before moving to South Africa in 1964, spent the next decade playing for Highlands Park.
After his playing days ended in 1974, Frickleton entered the coaching fray where his first gig was with Highlands Park.
He later went on to manage the Kaizer Chiefs, where he won four trophies in a single season in 1984, while in 1995 he won the CAF Champions League as coach of the Orlando Pirates.
In May it was reported that Frickleton was in poor health and had been hospitalized in Cape Town, and on Monday night the PSL confirmed his death.
