South Africa The batsmen have climbed up the ICC Test standings after beating Sri Lanka in the Boxing Day Test at Centurion.
The Proteas hit only once in the game, carding a huge 621 go ahead and win by one inning and 45 runs.
Faf du Plessis was named man of the match for the best inning of his career of 199, while there were also valuable contributions from Dean Elgar (95), Temba Bavuma (71) and Aiden Markram (68).
In the latest ICC rankings released on Thursday, those four players rose.
Du Plessis moved the most, climbing 14 places from 35th to sit now. twenty-one.
Elgar went from 24 to Twentieth, Markram from 27 to 24 and Bavuma has risen from position 63 to 57th.
Captain Quinton de Kock, meanwhile, remains South Africa’s top-ranked hitter in the format at 13th.
Meanwhile, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has surpassed Australian Steve Smith and India captain Virat Kohli to be the world’s number one test hitter.
Williamson jumped from third to first after leading the Black Caps to a 101-run win over Pakistan this week, scoring 129 in the first inning and 21 in the second as New Zealand was building a lead before declaring.
