CAPE TOWN – A senior prosecutor involved in the human trafficking and rape case of the controversial Pastor Timothy Omotoso case has died.

The Eastern Cape National Prosecution Authority (NPA) confirmed that attorney Zukile Mdolomba passed away on Saturday.

Mdolomba was one of the three prosecutors in the case against Omotoso.

Omotoso’s bail application was recently dismissed in Port Elizabeth Superior Court.

The court determined that the defense had not presented any exceptional circumstances that justified the granting of bail.

NPA spokeswoman Anelisa Ngcakani said: “While attorney Mdolomba played a pivotal role in this case, most especially the successful opposition to Omotoso’s recent bail request, the remaining two prosecutors are equally capable of successfully prosecuting the case”.
