JOHANNESBURG – Recommendations have been made for disciplinary action against the principal and five teachers from Laerskool Bekker.
This comes after a report of the drowning of a 13-year-old student, Keamohetswe Seboko, deemed him negligent.

Seboko drowned during a swimming activity in January.
“The report is very clear that the death was by drowning because there were many questions that the family has raised and the investigating body had to inquire about that,” he said. Gauteng Department of Education Spokesperson Steve Mabona.
“According to their evidence, it is that drowning is the reason why the child died in that pool and they also found that there is negligence, which should be shared with the educators and the director.”

The investigation also found that there was misrepresentation of the facts by the teachers and the principal.
“We had to interview everyone and the evidence or their statements were contradictory with what the children said because they were consistent in what they said compared to what the educators said, so the investigating body considered that there was a misrepresentation of the facts” Mabona added. .
