Remembered as one of the greatest fashion icons of the 20th century, Princess Diana’s legacy lives on.
Princess Diana, known for her impeccable style, made several of her opulent dresses disappear.
To bring them back, David and Elizabeth Emmanuel, the designers behind her wedding dress, plan to recreate the outfits they made for her in the eighties.
Old photographs and sketches will be used to recreate some of the more than 20 outfits that Diana created during the 1980s. The “lost” dresses could be used for a possible exhibition.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Emmanuel said: “I only know the whereabouts of the few who have been auctioned and are now in museums or with private collectors.
She added: “Originals appear from time to time in charity shops. Fortunately, I am a hoarder and I keep everything so we can rebuild the dresses that no longer exist. “
Although it is not clear if there will be an exhibition for the reconstructions, Ms Emmanuel insists that it would be good for people to see them even though the originals are long gone.
Speaking about the black dress that Princess Diana wore to a dance in March 1981 shortly after their engagement, Elizabeth said: “She transformed from a sweet-looking nursery teacher into a glamorous princess. It was black and a little dangerous. “
Princess Diana’s most iconic fashion moments are celebrated in season four of “The Crown.”
