Prince Harry “would very much appreciate” if he were allowed to return to his military posts, according to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams. Fitzwilliams spoke to Express.co.uk about possible amendments to the terms of departure for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex next year. A review of the couple’s negotiations with the Royal Family will take place in the spring of 2021.
Fitzwilliams said: “I think he would greatly appreciate if his military ties were re-established.
“He probably hopes that will be the case when they review the deal next year.
“Nobody currently holds those positions after all.
“So this may be due to the most likely changes to your arrangement.”

As part of the Queen’s departure agreement, the Sussexes had to withdraw from their royal duties, including official military appointments.
Prince Harry lost three of his titles: Captain General of the Royal Marines, Honorary Air Force Commander of the Royal Honington Air Force Base, and Honorary Commodore-in-Chief of Small Ships and Diving of the Royal Naval Commandos.
Generally, military service is expected from high-ranking royal men.
Prince Harry was even secretly sent to Afghanistan in 2007 and again in 2012.
However, now that the couple are making a living outside the monarchy, this will present them with many more opportunities.
Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk that the same kinds of real barriers that were hindering them beforehand will no longer.
He said: “They have resigned, so there is no question of constant evaluations as to whether something is appropriate.
“There will always be a certain amount of that.
“Everything they do will be followed microscopically by the press. There’s no question about that.”
