Prince George received a special gift from Sir David Attenborough when Prince William and Kate Middleton welcomed him for a socially distant gathering.
The visit included an open air screening of Sir David’s latest film, which also included the children of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
On the occasion, Prince George, currently third in line to the throne, received a 23-million-year-old gift from Sir David, which he encountered on his trip to Malta in the 1960s.
After getting his hands on the fossil, Prince George appeared to be on the moon as shown in images posted by Kensington Palace on his official Instagram.
“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to share new photographs of their family with David Attenborough,” the caption read.
“The photographs were taken earlier this week in Kensington Palace Gardens, after the Duke and Sir David attended an open-air screening of Sir David’s upcoming feature film ‘David Attenborough: A Life On Our Planet’ “.
“With a shared passion to protect the natural world, they continue to support each other in their missions to address some of the greatest environmental challenges facing our planet,” he added.
“When they first met, Sir David gave Prince George a tooth from a giant shark, whose scientific name is carcharocles megalodon (‘big tooth’). Sir David found the tooth on a family vacation in Malta in the late 1960s , embedded in the island’s soft yellow limestone that was laid during the Miocene period about 23 million years ago, “wrote the palace.
“Carcharocles is believed to have grown to 15 meters in length, which is about twice the length of the Great White, the largest shark alive today,” it added.
