CAPE TOWN – A 73-year-old grandfather was sentenced to two life sentences and 20 years in prison for raping his nine-year-old granddaughter.
The Pretoria man also exposed her to pornography.

The girl told her grandfather’s friend about the abuse and her father was alerted.
The spokesman for the National Prosecutor’s Office, Lumka Mahanjana, said: “The prosecutor said that children are a priority, therefore this sentence sends a strong message to criminals against children. The National Prosecutor’s Office welcomes the sentence ”.
The sentence comes in the midst of 16 Days of Activism for Non-Violence against Women and Children.
