Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane’s move to the egyptian giants Al Ahly Football Club has been praised by the South African president, Cyril Ramaphosa.

Ramaphosa believes that the appointment is a demonstration not only of Mosimane’s ability as a top soccer coach, but also of African unity.

“Pitso Mosimane will be missed as a force in South African soccer, but his appointment by our continent’s flagship club reinforces the bonds of friendship between our two countries.

“It is also a recognition of the talent and capacity that resides within our own continent. I wish Pitso and his team the best as they fly our flag and the banner of continental football with a club that all Africans are proud of, ”said Ramaphosa.

“Jingles”, as he is known in local football circles, is joined in Egypt at Al Ahly by three members of his former Sundowns club coaching staff: assistant Rhulani Mokwena, fitness coach Kabelo Rangoaga and performance analyst Musi Matlaba.

Mosimane flew to Egypt on Thursday and held his first training session with his new club on Friday.
