Durban – President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to address the nation on Wednesday.
According to a presidential statement, the speech will take place at 8:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on various news channels.
He will discuss South Africa’s ongoing measures to control the spread of the coronavirus through the implementation of a risk-adjusted strategy.
“The president’s speech follows several meetings of the Cabinet and the National Coronavirus Command Council,” said the Presidency.

The announcement comes after opposition political parties asked Ramaphosa to make a statement as the country enters its nearly seven weeks of national shutdown, which was implemented in March.
