Hibberdene police are investigating a case of concealment of the birth after a fetus was pulled from a shallow grave in Umzumbe.
According to the police, the K9 unit was used in an area indicated by a witness.
Police spokesman Capt. Nqobile Gwala said that after a positive reaction, the area was carefully dug up and a fetus wrapped in a protective clothing was found in a shallow grave.
“The fetus was placed in a small body bag and handed over to forensic pathology services at the scene,” Gwala added.
