Police have conducted operations in the Western Cape.

Police spokesman Brigadier Novela Potelwa said the weekend’s crime prevention operations led to the recovery of seven firearms and a handgun and homemade ammunition.
Potelwa said officers from Cloetesville, in the Cape Winelands, were on patrol when they detained two men on Primrose Street on Friday.
“The couple fled when they saw the police. They were hunted down and captured. In their possession, the police found two 9mm firearms, with serial numbers on file, a homemade firearm and ammunition.
“The suspects, ages 26 and 28, were subsequently arrested on charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. Meanwhile, members of the Boland K-9 assisted Darling police and followed vital information Saturday on Gray Street and They confiscated a 9mm Vector Parabellum with nine rounds of ammunition, believed to have been stolen from Cambridge in the Eastern Cape in 2019.
“Police also recovered significant amounts of dagga and methamphetamine. A 25-year-old gang-related suspect was arrested for illegal possession of firearms, ammunition and drugs,” Potelwa said.

On Friday, the Elsies River crime prevention unit responded to information about drug trafficking in Leonsdale, where they arrested a 53-year-old suspect in possession of 154 packages of dagga, weighing 23.5 kg.
In Gugulethu, the Provincial Integrated Team, together with criminal intelligence officials, raided a house, where they seized a stolen vehicle and arrested a 59-year-old suspect.
The vehicle was stolen in Lansdowne and some of its parts have already been stripped.
“Two firearms were seized in Kraaifontein and Parow and two suspects were arrested for possession of firearms without a license in similar operations between Friday and Saturday.
“The efforts made by the members are applauded as, without fail, they venture to create security in the communities,” said Potelwa.
All of the arrested suspects are expected to appear in various courts on Monday.
