Western Cape Police have launched a manhunt of three gunmen after six men were killed in Khayelitsha.

The three assailants are alleged to have shot and killed five men in a shack in the informal settlement PJS on Saturday night.

“Reports indicate that the victims … were inside a friend’s house in the informal PJS settlement when, at approximately 7:30 p.m., three armed suspects entered the hut and began shooting,” said the spokesman for the police, Brigadier Novela Potelwa.

Two people were also seriously injured in the shooting.

“The two injured victims were taken to a medical facility, where the sixth victim later died,” Potelwa said.

The victims were between 29 and 36 years old.

“The police have intensified the search for the suspects as the 72-hour activation plan for resource mobilization was activated,” he said.

“Anyone with information that helps speed up the police investigation should contact the police on 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS app.”
