Police arrest 44 and seize 23 cars at illegal KZN party

Police arrested 44 people in KwaZulu-Natal over the weekend for attending a party.

“On Saturday night, Winterton SAPS, SANDF, the Okhahlamba Public Order Police, and the Okhahlamba Traffic Department conducted a multi-disciplinary intelligence-driven operation in the Winterton Central Business District after receiving information from a party that was having place, “said SAPS KZN spokesperson Brig Jay Naicker.

The arrested partygoers were fined 500 rand each.

“A case was opened to call a meeting in contravention of the Disaster Management Law against the party’s convenor, who was also arrested. The police agencies seized 23 vehicles that were used by the culprits, ”Naicker said.

The police warned the public to stop organizing meetings that contravene the Disaster Management Law.

“Citizens are again urged to comply with the Disaster Management Law regulations as police operations intensify throughout the province,” said KZN Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula.
