President Cyril Ramaphosa finally released South Africans from their misery on Thursday by shedding more light on the future of the Covid-19 closure.
Ramaphosa announced that the country would go into “level 4” risk on May 1, with some relaxed blockade regulations to allow limited economic activity.
The relaxed regulations mean that a curfew will be applied from 20:00 to 05:00.
On Saturday, the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, and the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Ebrahim Patel, held a press conference to provide more clarity on the new regulations.
While the regulations regarding the details of the level 4 blockade will be published next Thursday, Dlamini-Zuma and Patel announced the general lines.
The use of cloth face masks will be compulsory at level 4.
Hygiene and social distancing remain critically important, and screening for Covid-19 symptoms will be conducted in reopened workplaces.
They said that while restaurants will be closed for seated meals, food deliveries will be allowed, but alcohol is still not available.
