Sony is preparing for the life of the next generation by updating most of its current hardware.
The PSVR received a rather mysterious update that seems to focus on PS5 connectivity, while PS4 system update 8.00 was released yesterday and included PS5 party and chat prep.
However, the PS4 update has not been smooth and some serious issues are being reported.
Crashes and glitches with PS4 update
Most system updates are silky smooth. This not!
Users around the world have taken to social media to report problems with their PS4 since they installed update 8.00.
The issues range from the friend list not loading to partial chat issues and general stability glitches.
The update works fine for some players, but others find it totally unusable.

None of this is good for Sony, which will have expected a smooth transition to the next generation in November.
Sony is yet to comment on these issues, and we hope a review is on the way, but until there is very little that gamers can do if they run into these issues.
Group chat recording
This all comes after Update 8.00 caused a stir by saying that players could record and report voice chat on PS5.
The meme creators had a field day with it, and while Sony clarified that they won’t listen to their chats themselves, it has scared off some gamers.
All of this could push people towards the Xbox Series X, which was released earlier than the PS5 and has more powerful specs.
