In a move that could shake up SA football, Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurković has been linked to a move to Pitso Mosimane’s new Egyptian club and Amakhosi fans are not allowing it.
On Monday, reports circulated that Mosimane’s Al Ahly was interested in the Serbian forward.
According to an Arab news report, Alkhaleej Today, Al Ahly has started a rapprochement to sign Nurkovic and could join the team in the new season. Amakhosi has yet to confirm the news.
Nurkovic has an impressive resume having previously played for Slovak soccer teams such as FK Pohronie, Slovan Duslo Šaľa, Dunajská Streda, Vion Zlaté Moravce and Spartak Vráble.
He is a fan favorite on Chiefs and has proven to be a prolific scorer, scoring 13 goals in 25 games in all competitions in the 2019/2020 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season.
Kickoff reported last month that Mosimane named Nurkovic as one of his favorites for the Footballer of the Season award.
“I think [Nurkovic] deserves something, to be honest. The boy played well, the boy attacks, scores, defends. It’s amazing, it’s a monster. He has done very well, ”he said about the forward.
On social media, fans expressed divided opinions on the possible move, with some saying the Chiefs should not agree to sell the forward. Others accused Mosimane of trying to destroy their club.
