Pick n Pay launches digital receipts

Pick n Pay has announced that cash receipts can now be sent directly to your smart shoppers’ email accounts or uploaded to their mobile apps.

The South African retailer said this will replace a printed receipt and is applicable at all Pick n Pay stores, including clothing, liquor and Express stores.

Retail marketing executive John Bradshaw said the reasons for launching this initiative are to improve Pick n Pay’s environmental footprint and make life easier for the retailer’s customers.

“We are always looking for ways to reduce waste in our stores and help our customers lead an easier life by making their shopping experience faster and more convenient,” said Bradshaw.

“This latest Smart Shopper upgrade meets all of these requirements.”

“Customers already tell us that they enjoy the option of not having to worry about where they put their cash receipt,” Bradshaw said.

Pick n Pay said that nearly 13,000 customers had signed up for this service during its pilot phase earlier this year.

One week after the launch of this feature for all smart shoppers, another 7,000 customers have opted for this service.

You can still get a physical receipt

Pick n Pay also clarified that opting for digital receipts does not prevent customers from accessing a printed receipt.

If you need a physical voucher, you can ask your cashier to print it for you, while high-value items and guaranteed products will automatically have your voucher marked.

If Pick n Pay Smart Shopper customers wish to subscribe to this new service, they can do so through their online profile on the Pick n Pay website or through the Pick n Pay mobile app in their preferences.

Customers will need to provide a valid email address to access this service.
