- A massive demonstration, organized by Move One Million, took place in towns and cities in South Africa.
- Thousands of South Africans, as well as residents abroad, participated in the call for unity.
- The movement has demanded that the government address issues such as corruption and gender-based violence.
Thousands of South Africans participated in a massive demonstration across the country on Saturday to raise awareness of fraud, corruption, gender-based violence and racism.
The rally, organized by Move One Million, was attended by the entire country, as well as the support of residents of 16 other countries.
“Since March 2020, our leaders have patronized us, instead of protecting us.
“What started as a reasonable approach to keeping South Africa safe under lock and key has turned into a looting frenzy, in which billions of rands have disappeared,” said Move One Million founder Jarette Petzer in a release.
“Enough is enough! We reject the escalation of violent crime and gender-based violence. We reject narratives of racial harassment and divisions. We reject current poverty, finger pointing and lack of responsibility.”
“People have obeyed for too long a government that divides us, instead of uniting us.”

“There have been thousands and thousands who have participated, beyond what any of us expected. The result has been insane.
“Everyone has distanced themselves socially with their masks on. Some have formed groups of people, with only 10 to 15 people gathered, some have formed human chains and others have had slow impulses,” said Move One Million spokeswoman Joanita van Wyk .
The organization has demanded that legal action be taken against senior government officials involved in corruption activities and full transparency in the review of the direct electoral process.
