British skyscraper climber George King free-climbs the Melia Barcelona Sky hotel in Barcelona on April 2, 2021.
A 21-year-old Briton was briefly detained on Friday after freely climbing one of Spain’s tallest skyscrapers.
George King, 21, nicknamed “Daredevil” by a superhero character, climbed with his bare hands and without ropes the 120-meter glass-walled Melia Barcelona Sky hotel located in the city of Barcelona, northeast Spain.
Crowds watched as King, who also freely climbed The Shard in London, made his way to the top of the building without security equipment.
He was detained on his way out for about 20 minutes by police and was not fined, his agent Bryan Yeubrey told AFP.
King was jailed for three months in late 2019 after climbing the famous 310-meter-tall Shard building without permission, vowing at the time to repeat the feat.
His jail sentence was criticized by supporters, including famous freelance climber Alain Robert, nicknamed the “French Spider-Man” for his own spectacular ascents.
