At about 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, police were summoned to a home on Mdledle Street after the deceased’s caretaker and boyfriend found the woman dead on the bedroom floor, police spokeswoman Colonel Priscilla Naidu said.
“It is alleged that the caretaker left Thobeka Goxa around 4:00 p.m. [on Monday] late. The house was closed; however, when she returned with Goxa’s boyfriend [on Tuesday] In the morning, they found the kitchen door and the security door wide open. There were no signs of forced entry into the house, “Naidu said.
Goxa was found lying on the bedroom floor with stab wounds to the left side of her chest. It is unclear if anything was taken from the house. Naidu added that Goxa would not open the door for anyone unless he recognized her voice.
“The police are urging the community to help them by exposing [those] who are responsible for Goxa’s death. A murder case is under investigation and anyone who can assist in the investigation should contact SAPS KwaNobuhle on 041 978 8800 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or the nearest police station. All information is strictly confidential, “Naidu said.
