Patrice motsepe has revealed that there are plans for his eldest son, Tlhopie, to take the reins of Mamelodi sundowns if your cost and freight The candidacy for the presidency is successful.
Motsepe, 59, is competing for the prestigious position with Jacques Anouma from the Ivory Coast and the president of the Mauritanian Football Federation, Ahmed Yahya.
Speaking at the Sandton Convention Center on Thursday, where he unveiled his 10-point manifesto for the CAF presidency, Motsepe said: “Let me quickly speak to the question of ‘Sundowns missing me.’
“The sunsets will never lose me.
“My heart and soul will always be with Mamelodi Sundowns. But the reason my wife is here and my children is because of the deep and profound emotional commitment we have to Mamelodi Sundowns.
“And I’m talking here not only about love, but also about financial commitment.
“… If I am an honor and a privilege and I am chosen, I will have to step aside [at Sundowns]. Because there can’t be a president who has to make all these fundamental changes … and then I sit there and Sundowns is playing the Champions League final ‚and the referee makes funny decisions. And they say, ‘You see.
“So I have to walk away. And so in our culture, my son (Tlhopie Motsepe) is going to be, you know, you don’t want to get ahead of yourself, but he will be the new president. And his mother will be there, and his brothers will be there.
“Then the president’s shirt will be removed until there is a new president at CAF, in which case I will return.”
