The trio remain dubious and could join the Malawi striker and miss Sunday’s clash after taking hits midweek.
Orlando Pirates assistant coach Fadlu Davids has confirmed that Gabadinho Mhango will not participate in Sunday’s Soweto Derby, while Thembinkosi Lorch, Terrence Dzvukamanja and Thulani Hlatshwayo face the final fitness tests for the second leg of Sunday’s MTN8 semi-finals against Kaizer Chiefs.
Last season’s Golden Boot winner Mhango also missed last weekend’s first leg as the Pirates pulled off a comfortable 3-0 win against arch rivals at Orlando Stadium to take a dominant lead in the return match.
“Gabadinho Mhango is out, he’s definitely not available,” Davids, the Buccaneers’ alternate head coach, said at Friday’s news conference.
” We are still waiting for Tyson [Hlatshwayo]We, Lorch and Dvukamanja, we will get the final report later in the day and make the decision to take a late fitness test or not, “he added.” Sam [Bongani] and read [Tshegofaso] they are still ongoing with their rehabilitation programs. ”
The Malawi international injured his groin during the Pirates’ warm-up against Stellenbosch last week and was unable to recover in time.
They also missed Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Bloemfontein Celtic.
New signings Dzvukamanja and Lorch played Celtic, but both suffered injuries while Hlatshwayo missed the match entirely.
